How it works

Multiply length by width for the room's area, then add a waste allowance for cuts and mistakes — about 10% for straight layouts and 15% for diagonal or herringbone.

Formula

Needed = length × width × (1 + waste%)

Example

A 14 × 12 ft room is 168 sq ft; with 10% waste you need about 185 sq ft (10 boxes of 20 sq ft).
