How it works
We subtract 2026 federal income tax (standard deduction), Social Security (6.2% up to the $184,500 wage base), Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% on high earners) and a flat state rate you choose. Real paychecks vary with W-4 withholding choices, local taxes, and benefits.
Formula
Net = Gross − federal tax − Social Security − Medicare − state tax − pre-tax deductions
Example
A single person earning $75,000, paid every two weeks with a 4% state tax, takes home about $2,250 per paycheck.
Assumptions & limitations
- Uses the tax year shown on the calculator.
- Federal figures only unless a rate is entered.
- Does not include every credit, deduction or local tax.
