How it works
Under the US Fair Labor Standards Act, non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5× their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Some states and contracts require double time.
Formula
Pay = rate × regular hours + rate × multiplier × overtime hours
Example
$22/hr for 40 hours plus 8 overtime hours at 1.5× = $880 + $264 = $1,144.
Assumptions & limitations
- Gross (pre-tax) amounts unless stated.
- Uses the hours and weeks you enter.
